DeSoto Arts and Humanities Council
DAHC groups are a fun way to share your interest in your art with others, and to grow and learn. Group members meet as often as the group members choose. They get together to share their recent work, critique each other's work, share tips and techniques, hold workshops and sometimes take field trips of interest to the group's members.
Membership in a group is free and you don't have to be a member of DAHC to take part in a group (although we hope you will join and support the arts in our community).
Presently we have the following active groups:
- Writers Group: meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Cantina Clubhouse in Arcadia Village, 2692 State Route 70 East. Anyone with an interest in writing is welcome. Members read and critique each otherís work and guest speakers are scheduled occasionally. Sarah Hollenhorst is the group organizer; call her for more information at 863-244-1663.
- Photography Group: meets on the second Friday of each month at the DeSoto County Public Library, 125 N. Hillsborough Ave., from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bring your camera and photos to share, and your questions about digital photography techniques. Occasionally field trips are scheduled. For more information, email Karen Smoke.
- Artists Group: This group meets Monday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon in the Cantina Clubhouse in Arcadia Village, 2692 State Route 70 East. Call Linda at 863-494-7734 for more information.
If you'd like to start a new group (for example, music or theater), contact DAHC and we'll help you get a group together.
